Okay... I'm sure Cloverfeild is a great film... it has an amazing storytelling structure & pulling off a big budget Hollywood Blockbuster with one camera is ground breaking. The effects are made seamless & believable by the shaky amateurish camera work & all the action scenes are punctuated with snippets of semi cheesy lovey dovey couple footage (the events of the disaster where supposedly filmed over an existing tape) so it make for great juxtaposition (woah big word for me). I am sure many (pretentious) young film makers are thinking of ways already of how to adapt this style into their projects (Naunahan na kaayo ni Abrams, huwag na please).

The dialog has no wit... it's all reactive & believable & yet it's not dragging & repetitive like in other mockumentaries... I would have given it a perfect score, but why 3 stars? Because I didn't finish it! not that I didn't want to, I did! (mahal din ang sine ngayon ha) Midway into the film, because of all the hand held camera movements & shaking & zooming & zooming out I had to run out to puke! Goodbye dinner (it is not fun to regurgitate a Mongolian bowl & sprite). The usher lady smiled... she said through out the day I am not the only one who was made sick by the film... I went back in to try to finish because I thought I was okay already but a few more minutes with I started to feel nauseated again... so I walked out & left my friends (who play 3d games a lot so their brains are conditioned to those constant shakes).

I was so pissed... why make a movie that would make people puke?... It is a great film but either catch it on a small screen or don't eat before watching it (or take Bonamine!).

Madali ka pala mahilo. Next time na makasabay kita sa pagbili ng toys... hihiluhin kita... sabay takbo with your loot.
Pag ikaw nakita kong ginamit mong PEG yang Cloverfield... pagtatawanan kita.

Salamat sa warning. I'll be watching it.

Thanks for the warning, Avid. So, did you get dizzy too, when you watched "Blair Witch Project?" Marami ring nasuka d'un dahil sa shaky cam, so I made sure to sit near the back. I'll do the same with "Cloverfield" then.

Wait, did I understand you correctly -- the whole movie used just ONE camera?!?!?! Wow, kaloka 'yun, a! To be frank, though, my expectations for this movie are kinda low. I'm not a huge fan of these action blockbusters; I found Abrams' ID4 terribly cheesy and predictable (though, admittedly, fun).

Yes one camera, parang event coverage, jump cuts na nagsasabi ng malinaw na storya, sobrang husay at medyo punk rock para sa isang malaking pelikula. Blair witch I watched on TV, so I guess yeah safe kung sa likod ka talaga umupo, nasa gitna ako kaya ayun....biyahilo.

Haha... pramis hindi ko gagamitin yun (as much as possible pag may project ako hindi na ako nag pepresent ng peg...overpramis!)

NYAHAHAHAHA!

Si Ian and Reg (ex-ADs from Harrison) hindi din nakayanan at nagsayang lang ng P190. I braved through the 90 minutes and I liked it -- I even enjoyed the corny love story.

But we were discussing if feasible ba na hindi hand-held ang camera, would it have the same effect. Personally, I feel integral ang mega-kalog execution, otherwise it would just feel like the usual "Deep Impacts" and "Armaggedons" of the world.

Nahihilo din ako sa mga FPS games. Hintayin ko na lang sa DVD para pwede mag-pause para sumuka.

lol. i saw this movie on the opening day. on my experience nobody ran out halfway thru the movie and puked. i love the movie but i have to admit there were too much camera shaking for most movie goers to bear. if you are going to watch this movie make sure you sit really far away from the screen. :) i give it a 4 out of 5
